Sierra Schmidt also aims to improve a music theory spreadsheet tool that can help high school and college students learn and apply music theory concepts. Miss Schmidt calls it the Music Theory Application. The spreadsheet now automatically delivers data on many characteristics of musical keys, including chord notes, resolution direction, Roman numerals, figured bass, and lead sheet symbols. It also contains an automatic note matrix for 12-tone serialism and several music collection tables (octatonic, hexatonic, whole tone). Improvements planned include ordered pitch class interval table, voice leading rules, music phrase structures, and more music collections such as pentatonic and diatonic. It is also desired to make the tool more user-friendly. Contact Sierra via email at [email protected] to apply for access to use the tool.
